I work in a pharmacy with a photo department and I can order stuff wholesale. I recently got a catalog with a listing for the 420EX IMP (IMP=Imported) for $139.99 The same place also lists a 420EX for $149.99 (non imported) I was under the impression that Canon stuff all came from Japan. Would there be any disadvantage to buying the Imported flash? Has anyone got one of these?

That's probably a gray-market item, without a US warranty (so if you want warranty service, you'd have to ship it back to wherever).

$140 seems to be an excellent deal ($150 is not bad either).
"imported" flash is identical to "non-imported", the only difference is what you have to do if it requires service during the warranty period. Usually, you have to ship it to the local distributer instead of Canon service centers. That how it works with B&H. But you have to check how it works in this particular case.

AeroSquid,
For your info, I got a 420ex with US warranty from B&H, but it was made in Korea.
