Per earlier posts (topic ID# 8155) "007girl1" I contacted Cannon parts (732) 521-7230 (New Jersey) and was order the replacement LCD for my broken Canon S230 Part number WG2-5226 for $66.86 plus $5 (Fed-Ex) shipping. This was about twice what was posted in an April thread, but in that case, it was for a different model, (S400). I was not able to identify a Sony specific part number, but perhaps it may have been cheaper if I could?

I wanted to post this information inc any other s230 owners experience the "delight" of dropping the camera

Hi,
I dropped my camera today, I JUST BOUGHT IT!
anyway, the camera's still taking pictures fine, and everything seems to work the same except the LCD, the LCD isnt working! if i look at it from a weird angle i can make some stuff out, BARELY.
anyway, its an s230, the LCD is not cracked, and i can hear something rattling around the inside when i shake the camera.
Does anyone know how much it would cost to repair this camera? does the warranty cover it? Should i tell them i dropped it?

Ali

Hum, it sounds like you DID break your LCD ("...everything seems to work the same except the LCD, the LCD isnt working! if i look at it from a weird angle i can make some stuff out, BARELY..."

With regard to cost, when I checked it was Min of $75 to look at it.. perhaps more if it was difficult to repair.

I doubt dropping the camera is a manufacture defect, and I'm sure the nature of the failure is related ot the drop, so anyone repairing would immediately know... and I bet you dinged your case too!

So... it's not too scarry... I'd recommend you open it up and inspect to see what's making the noise.

Good luck.

Well, the case isnt damaged, nothing else seems to be, and the rattling sound is minute, barely noticeable.
75 dollars eh? so does this mean the LCD has to be replaced or repaired?
