THESE WILL LOAD SLOWLY
Went a few hours north to Duluth yesterday with a friend (Baldylox here on POTN) for an airshow. All in all it was a good time, but I was kind of disappointed they didn't have any planes out for you to go up and see. I suppose those days are gone now. So - it was just the show, and some exhibits in a hangar.
I shot a ton of pics, I was definitely getting better at panning towards the end of the day. Used the AI Servo in the camera, and had the IS on to setting #2 (for panning). Rebel XT, with my 70-300 IS lens. I had a polarizer on for part of the day, but since the lens would rotate when it focused, and I was shooting at all parts of the sky, those shots were pretty erratic. Towards the end of the day I took it off, and things got a lot better.
Here are some of the better shots (they've been cropped and resized, and I spent a very short time in PS to move the brightness / contrast / and blue color sliders). I'll decide on a few real keepers to put more work into, but thought I'd get a few up to share.

The Thunderbirds got started last, here's one of them just going up - I noticed in a lot of my pictures that as they went past the crowd, they would be looking at us

Accelerating up, afterburner going and vapor trails showing

Coming by in formation, several shots of several passes

I have a huge respect now for the guys that take pictures of these shows profssionally, tracking these guys across the sky at high speeds, zoomed in on them, and getting the focus, metering, etc. correct is HARD!!!
I already know I have a lot to learn with PS, but I am open to any comments, pointers, and critiques.
