No comments yet Condyk... These door shots must be getting too 'high-brow'.
Great colour (or color for our American friends :-)) - The signwriting in 1 & 2 almost looks like you added it in PS!
I'm not even going to ask what a Lettercutter or a Diesinker is though...
I assume you chose the blue 'theme' to celebrate the Italians winning the World Cup?

I like the colours & comp of the last one. The peeling paint adds a nice touch.
And what is a lettercutter & diesinker, anyway?

I agree that the text looks like it's been put on in PS too, it's been said to me before too. Seems to be part of the trade of urban shots :p Anyway, I like this series- nice textures and colours. My town really is so boring for these shots, nowhere near as much here as in a big city. I can't wait to get back to Newcastle to do some real urban shooting!

Maybe you Dave should follow this Mr. (Ms.?) Mason, and see if s/he leads you to interesting graveyards for lettercutting.
The 2nd picture left me wondering, what was the missing sign ... maybe D. Mason had moved to next door.

Cheers me dears ... lettering on the garage 100% authentic.
Uncle Kev ... I actually won £64 in the sweepstake as I was allocated Italy to win ;-) I also won the Euro Champs when Iw as allocated greece :-) They don't call me Lucky Dave for nothing!
Not sure what a lettercutter & diesinker is either. Not bothered to be honest.

Not sure what a lettercutter & diesinker is either. Not bothered to be honest.Helpful POTN members are here:
Lettercutter: cut lettering into stonework by marking out the letters and then cutting or chiselling them with hand-held tools or sandblasting equipment
Diesinker: One that makes or engraves metal dies for stamping or shaping. So artisans like we. ;) (You knew this, I know ... but I didn't, had to use dictionary.)

The colors are fantastic, but I can't stop thinking there is some sort of subliminal message going on in that first image.

Yes, thought they would do stuff like that. Thanks for the clarification. Doesn't add anything to the shot for me, but a nice to know for the curious ;)

  Well, let's not even go there. Weird how they have done the lettering. They obviously thought about it and straight yellow 'Swallow Garage' wasn't deemed enough so they added the other two Swallow bits in different colours. Why?

Perhaps it is to give the lettercutter some extra practice?
