(Actually it is "Sirkus Finlandia" :))

A couple of pictures. Most of the performers are actually from eastern Europe.

I am much more impressed with the quality of the photography than the quality of the performers! :-)

I hate to post one liners, but I really like these photos. Great composition, and pro quality. Congrats,

I don't like circus, but I do like these images! Either you did very well, or this Sirkus is a lot more interesting then the circussus that come to Enschede...

What a great set of images!! So clear, and I love the way the lighting turned out.

Great shots but what's up with the clown juggling the giant diaphragms?

Well, yes. I swept the mistakes under the rug :). I really made some bad mistakes - one of the dumbest was to forgot to tell my camera that the sea lions were black. Not many good pictures there. Also, I was at a loss with the fire jugglers. There was no additional lighting (except what leaked from the brims of the tent, which created distracting backgrounds. Also, the movement is much more "3D" than in concert situations, so while the shutter speeds were constantly over 1/100s @f2.8/ISO1600 for most acts - very good compared to most of the concerts I've shot - I'm not sure how I should've focused during some of the acts (particularly that one with the cats and the woman - they did this sort of breakdance routine where the cat jumped over her limbs... that was really silly to shoot since I was trying to keep the center focus point over something relevant (continuous focusing), watch for a good moment to take the picture and try to have a non-catastrophic composition (excuse for the horrible pun). It didn't go so well ;). Well, luckily, I don't have to display the bad photos :)

EDIT: BTW, now think that #5 is actually quite bad. That performance was all about static power and balance, so the movement blur in his foot is bad and the photo does not represent the gist of the act very well. Too bad, the light was nice quality-wise.

There is not much to not like about these photos, they are all wonderfull, even number 5! I like the curve of his body, the movement of his foot does not bother me. The lighting as well as the compositions are fantastic!
I wish we got performances like that here!

what lens?

I guess all of the photos displayed here were taken with the 70-200/2.8 IS (body was 5D).

Thanks :). No, IS was on, although in panning mode during some parts of the show. I'm not sure why you think it was off, but note that the IS only stops camera shake, not subject shake ;).
