here is one of the shots i took during a dance recital

the whole thing was about 1 hour long so i took a lot of different shots

i used my 70-210 lens f/3.5-4.5, 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro

but for this shot i used 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5

98mm 1/250 f/8

Those recital shoots can be tricky. I added the links to two of my earlier posts where I shot a ballet show for the first time. I see you used a smaller aperture and faster shutter speed than I did for my shots.

I had a lot of noise, but most of the images came out sharp enough for the parents liking. I'm supposed to shoot the whole thing again next year so I have time to improve my craft.

You caught a great expression there.

I would crop it to vertical, since the dancers on each end of the frame are underexposed and hard to recognize (crappy stage lighting).

Although this one turned out ok, I would never shoot anything on stage at f/8. Open up that lens, and you'll get better shutter speeds and more keepers.

First, with so many images taken it would be nice to a few more in the post. Second, dance pretty much requires feet and none are seen. Third, it would sure be nice to have some details on the type of dance, dance recital, school or group, city, venue and date as well as information about the equipment used and your involvement. Love her smile!

curtis... when i saw the EXIF data i was shocked at the f/8. i had been shooting a f/2.8 or f/4.5 (depending on the lens) all night! i shot that photo in P mode for some reason, cant remember why. i probably could have dropped the ISO down to 1000 because for this dance there was more light that normal. the amount of light and clothing changed every song so sometimes i forgot to change the ISO up or down
