I'm purchasing a 30D shortly.

Can someone tell me what milliamps (mAh) the original battery is and roughly how many photos that you get out of a fully charged battery. I think its 1390 mAh

I can get a battery copy which is cheaper and have more charge 1800 mAh.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Cheers

I can only say that you won't be disappointed with the battery life. The battery will probably take a minimum of 300+ pictures. I rarely shoot that many in a day. After the initial charge I think I went about a week before having to swap batteries. That was with a bunch of "test" pics and playing with settings and such.

Of course, YMMV.

Enjoy!

I got over 3000 (no I didnt forget a zero) and the batery life indicator still showed full. I was actualy worried that there was something wrong with the batery monitoring function

the Canon is 1390 mAh

My lord. Thats heaps.

My 350D battery is 790 mAh and I get about 300 out of that.

If the cheapo battery is 1800 mAh then that'll be about 25% more.

You can't exactly compare the BP-511A battery to the battery of the 350D (not sure what battery that is) because 1) they're two different batteries, and 2) they're operating to different cameras. ;)

But I can say that I get quite a few shots off a single charge. When shooting an event, I keep two batteries in the grip, and bring several spares.

For my spares, I use 3rd party batteries (by Impact - clicky here (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=OrderDetail.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=IMBP511A&image.x=9&image.y=10)). I have been very pleased with these batteries!

HTH :)

Very true. When doing research on the 20D vs. 30D I read that they are able to get more sots out of the same battery in the 30D, even though it has a larger LCD, they managed to get it to use less power

Will work perfectly for your 30D. And they actually run better than Canon's.

I just bought the two pack and they arrived today. You can't beat less then $15 per battery and with all the recommendations from these forums sterlingtek can be trusted unlike some of those ebay sellers and other sketchy places.
