FEL not working?

I recently upgraded the firmware on my D-30 to 2020.
I had set my custom function 2 to option 1 to try it out and then switched back to option 2. Now when I press the star * button to lock my exosure I do not get any pre-flash and I do not see FEL in my viefinder??
Has anybody experienced this problem? Do any of you good folks have a soloution?

Can I use FEL when using Custom function CF 2-1 or 2-3?
Unfortunately this is not possible.
The only way to use FEL is to change it back to CF 2-0.
It would be welcome as a firmware upgrade, which could give us more options

Thanks Roine, Custom function option 2 = 0 has restored FEL (I fotgot there was 0??). I don't yet have a external flash and like to take pictures indoors (have no choice right now) with the internal flash. FEL does help with correct exposure.
I have been taking some shots recently inside some Blues Clubs, lighting is very low and shutter speed is a problem @ 2.8 when you are using available light and no tripod. The FEL option helps get a sharper image but loses the atmosperic lighting.

Glad to help.

I have some studioflashes, 500ws and a flashmeter.

Before that, i use a 550EX and som cheep slaveflashes and the FEL function.

It works well i guess.
