I try to take the picture of the cup, but it end up focus on the bottle instead, what did I do wrong ?

My guess is that the camera did not have any edges to focus on if you had the focus box centered on the middle of the black cup. Try centering the focus box on the top edge of the cup, push the shutter button halfway for it to get the focus and then while holding the button halfway, re-compose the shot centering the cup like the example you posted, and then push the shutter button the rest of the way. Hope that helps and works for you!

You could be too close to focus on the cup, say for example the cup is less than 6 cm from the lens in wide angle. -sean

Cup could be close enough you need to be sure to have the macro feature activated (the "flower" button on the camera). Camera won't try to focus super-close unless you outright tell it that's what you're trying to do.

Should solve your problem.

Worst case you can use manual focus.

you are right, I try to center the focus box on the top edge of the cup, lock it, and recompose the picture, it works. Thank you very much
