We are pleased to announce that a public beta test version of YarcPlus Canon Conversion Software is now available at...

http://www.pictureflow.com

As many of you know Yarc was among the first of the 3rd party products that made viewing and converting Canon RAW files practical. I have teamed up with Yarc's original author, Bruce Henderson, and we have developed the next generation of Yarc which we call YarcPlus. It is a Windows based product (sorry Mac folks) that takes the best aspects of Yarc (simple and fast) and expands upon them with an innovative Windows interface. Bruce has focused on the Yarc engine technology, and I have created the UI.

The main difference between YarcPlus and the other available products is that they tend to be browser/converters. YarcPlus is not a browser. It is a very efficient Canon Raw file Batch converter. It is designed for people like myself who base their workflow around a dedicated browser/database (ThumbsPlus in my case), but need and want far more then the TP CRW plug-in or the Canon twain drivers to efficiently process hundreds of Raw files from multiple folders. It is simply a matter of taste and preferences within the workflow. (ThumbsPlus (V5.0 now in beta) has become a very good Canon RAW viewer, and when integrated with YarcPlus makes a powerful package for Canon Raw photographers).

We feel that YarcPlus will add speed and efficiency regardless of what other software is currently being used. We do not see YarcPlus replacing anything as much as adding another powerful (and inexpensive) tool to the Canon Raw workflow process.

YarcPlus also features a proprietary Noise filter that eliminates some very specific noise that is inherent in many D30 images especially those at mid ISO speeds. Post processing in PS can be cleaner when this noise is eliminated right at the time of conversion. (more details and sample images later on the web site). And we hope to offer more proprietary processing in the future.

Rather then me go on writing here, I suggest that those of you who are interested, go to the web site where there is more information, and check out the beta version. The program will initially be free of charge as it develops through the beta period. So there is no cost to give it a try. And for those people (are you listening Don) who are always concerned (rightfully so) about polluting their system with lots of new software and DLLs scattered throughout their system, let me assure you that YarcPlus is VERY small and contained and can be fully uninstalled.

Your feedback and suggestions are more than welcome as YarcPlus reaches close to its official release stage.

We hope you enjoy working with YarcPlus as much as we have enjoyed developing it.

Thanks in advance for your help and support.

In an effort to help me find a way to process my RAW files which I am having a hard time doing with the discs Canon supplied with my D-30 (Great camera, horrible computer interface and photo programs) I downloaded your YarcPlus Raw beta program, the install indicated everything was installed correctly, but when I click on the icon all I get is "runtime error '430' .....class does not support automation or does not support expected interface..." Isn't there any program out there that supplies a quick and glitch free way to download and convert these Raw files. I'm almost ready to go back to the jpeg mode after two weeks of owning the D-30.

Doctor Doctor have you heard the news!! :) (sorry about that, I,m crazy:p)

I have a G2 and have used Breezebrowser for several months now without any problems. Many in this forum like its features and it seems to be voted superior to the DOOMbrowser by everyone.

Here is the link www.breezesys.com the free version has a limitation of 15 pictures, to get unlimited you must by the program. approx $20.

Also, I downloaded the YARC plus and have been using it to see how it compares. I have had no problems to date and have run several pictures through it. I like a lot of its features and will continue to use it. I am downloading from a card reader. As to your error??????

Good luck.

DoctorMoth,

Sorry that you had problems with your install of YarcPlus. We ship Y+ in a lean installer to make things easy on most users. We don't like to "intrude" on your system with loading in lot of files that can change your system operation.

The downside is that in some systems some support files are needed.

The solution to your problem can be found on our support page at

www.pictureflow.com

Sorry that this reply is so late but it hard to scan ALL of the forums ALL of the time. An email message would have gotten you immediate response.

We have just posted a new version (V1.0.2b). Please give it a try.
