I want to take pictures and record videos outside in the winter with my JVC GR-D270U Mini DV Camcorder. I was wondering if the cold would damage my camcorder and if it would is there anything I could buy that would allow me to record and heat my camcorder at the same time?
Thanx in advance!

I'd start off by reading the manual.. see what it says about op temps.
After that, depeding on what your doing, a NEMA box with a window, and a small heater might work well. I've had wireless AP's run like that in the cold.

my guess is no. Electronics normally only have an issue going in an out of temprature changes. It causes moisture to build up an you may have to wait until it reaches the ambient temp to fire it up. This is normally from cold to hot. LCD's tend to react slowly in very cold temps, but normally not harmful.
