View Full Version : Feature REQUEST: Lightbox and/or Shopping Cart

The new 1.5beta4 works fine, but I miss one feature, a Lightbox and/or a shopping cart.

Right now we have the EEcommerce module to insert the pictures, and together with the "Click here to buy"-button, this works fine.

Is it possible to add the pictures with this buy-button to a lightbox or a shopping cart? When the visitor has finished to add the desired pictures he can go the lightbox or the shopping cart to buy over paypal, to fill out a custom form or to simply send a mail to the author about using the pictures.
Otherwise he has to choose single pictures, and at last he doesn't know anymore what he has choosen. But if he can add the pictures to a lightbox, later on it's possible to regroup desired pictures and to delete undesired pictures from the lightbox or the shopping basket.

This could be also useful if somebody (like me) wants to set up a little stockphoto agency. With a form we can ask the user about his needs, if he wants to publish the pics in a brochure or a book etc.

I have a plans to do this and even expanding this idea to a more generally usable feature, so if you have a little bit of patience so I can get 1.5 to final stage (so it does not suffer 1.3RC faith and stay RC forever). After that I will see how the features for your request could be programmed in most practical way.

I had a look into the features of the german gallery 4images, this solution with the lightbox is really good. Maybe it helps to look inside the code.

Next week I will finish the german and the italian translation of the user interface. You can put the translation into the final 1.5. We could start also a thread about translation, because various users wanted to do translation work in several languages.

Well, looking at other people's code is not for me - programming is very lone wolf stuff and l like solving problems in my own (sometimes personal) way and so gain more skills and more importantly will be able to fix bugs fast and add new features easily. When I do the code in full then I can stand behind it.

That's great, thanks. Perhaps I'll have to add couple of more EE boards here soon, like "EE languages", "EE usage", "EE bugs and problems"...
