Can i use 512MB or 1GB CF on Canon G1

intend to buy those high capacity CF memory card for the G1 to a trip.Any problems.

Yes you can. I got a Viking Components 512 MB compact flash card and I´m very happy with it. My now two years old G1 still works flawlessly and no problems so far. And best of all, have plenty of room that seems endlesly.

I've used a 1GB Microdrive since I bought my camera 2 1/2 years ago with no problems

I bought a 1GB CF card last weekends,it work great on my G1!
but i notice something strange.when i format the card it only show 975MB,is this normal?

when i set to (S-Superfine)(L-Large)2048x1536 can take 571 photos.

(S-Superfine)(M-Medium)1024x768 can take 999 photos.

(S-Superfine)(S-Small)640x480 can take 999 photos.(Also 999!)

i usually take photos at (S-Superfine)(M-Medium)
Previously my 256MB CF can take 415 photos.(with medium setting,Superfine)

so 1 GB should be 415x4===>1660 photos
but the LCD show 999.

so will my G1 able to take more than 999 photos?
strange is it......??

Any one have the above problems?

i would think the reaason is probably because the counter only goes up to 999...take a few and see how many you can take before it says 998.
