Just few shots from my last work, one of the 6 race of the "Italian Terrain Rally Cup", in Sicily.
I worked in a team, so, i couldn't change my position as I did when I was alone, but I took few freedom moments to take some particular shot. I hope you will appreciate them.

These are excellent - really nice mix of angles and use of light.
I'm really likeing #9 a lot. I don't tend to like tilted shots too much, but #6 is also very good, although I find the twigs sticking up in front of the car a little distracting. I might have been tempted to do a little gardening.
Cheers,
Simon.

Stunning... Best for me is 7, for the mood, composition and exposure.

#7 is just awesome! I like the others as well...
I've never done rally before, but how do you choose (or not choose) to "risk" shots using slower shutter speeds? I'd suggest showing a little more motion in the shots, but with just a single pass I'd have a difficult time determining if I should go slow and potentially miss the shot. For the head-on and jump stuff it's not really an issue, as the re is a lot of action involved, but the shots like #1 and #12 could use a little motion. #5 is great... but I just can't help to imagine what it would look like if the wheels weren't frozen and the people/background were blurred out.

some of my fave automotive photos... i love that in some the car is not the main focus, like your taking a landscape and the car just happens to be there. It nice to see that rather than just pictures of cars.... great job.... and its so beautiful there i miss italy sooooo much .. i cant wait for our winter trip

WOW! 3, 6 and 7! Fabulous! Brilliant!
Great shots really, the way the car is just a tinny part of an amazing landscape is really great!! And very well taken I might add.

Really thanks for comments guys ;)
I really like to take pics different than the simple car with blurred background filling the frame, because I think driver have to remember something special when they review pics of a race (after 2 years also...), so you've to help them with emotional or landscape shots (and typical car filling the frame shot, for sponsors......)
TCorzett: it's really hard to decide to use slow shutter time in a Rally... as you said, only 2-3 pass in front of you for each car (3 time the same spacial stage), and you have to get money from your shots....... I take my "motive" or "landscape" or "panning" pic during SHAKEDOWN (test race the day before the race) or during transfer stage, or, usually, during race to car I know are not my customer (so, i can risk the pic).
Excuse my english... really... I'm italian :D and I tried to explain a concept bigger than my english knowledge :D

Well I think you did really well with your English! MUCH better than my Italian, which is poco! :(
Anyway, thanks again for sharing the great pics :D
....the saying is "A picture is worth a thousand words." And I think your pictures have that going for them.

Those are some amazing jump shot you got there. Great stuff. Knowing that you can't see them coming and hence can't track them, I'm simply awed by the fact that you were able to capture the shots and get them in nice and sharp focus. Did you MF and prefocus those shots?

no Manual Focus and no PreFocus... I use AI-Servo, focusing before to see the car on the top of the pipe (rampa...???), and moving up on the car when I'm able to see it. I attached an image to explain that

It was clear... I forgot about the shakedown and transfer stages, that sounds like a great time to experiment. I'm spoiled, I get many attempts at things... one of these days I need to shoot a rally.

beautiful shots.... very sharp and excellent quality. liked no. 5 and 7. (even though it's interesting to see what some H/S in the photoshop will do to it)
What kind of lenses do you use ?
cheers
