Getting more and more up to date....

American Metalcore band 'The Black Dahlia Murder' performed in Atak on june 11.
I entered quite late, so missed the first support act, and didn't get too much of the second support act. Obviously the audience came for the headliner, or else needed a *long* time to warm up...

Quite an energetic show. The band did have a tendency to use the 'F' word quite a bit (noticably more so then dutch bands, maybe it's because they think they can use it, so they must use it?), and some didn't look too bright after the show. (Being in the Netherlands, probabley they thought if they can use it, they must use it? ;))

On with the pics!

Nice shots man. The BDM cracks me up, nice guys with a great sense of humor. Looks like the singer has lost a little weight since the last time I saw them :)

So, Rene, do these guys just strip off their clothes as they go along? Do the girls like this? Is the Atak an expensive place ... what do these shows cost? Is there alcohol? Nice to see in #2 that the whole band is wearing shorts! :-)

Great shots, a little noisy in some (#1 I noticed the most) but I like them.

 Their lead singer works in IT doesnt he? Go on, admit it!

Thanks all!
Dwight: I think they strip their clothes because it was awfully hot that night.
(Atak is a small venue, and if you put in enough people, and put on the lights, it gets 30 degrees C and up).
Expensive? Not really. BDM cost € 8,50 at the door, an euro less in presale. Mostly entrance is somewhere between 5 and 10 euros.
Alcohol? Off course. It' s Rock and Roll ;) That also explains the girl in my other thread
Sando: I don't mind noise, in fact, I'd rather have noise then a soft 'plastic' image. I think I did a bit of noise reduction on some images, but you won't notice unless you see the original. In fact: I added noise in the last image ;)

Rene,

Do you shoot these groups because they ask or is it the type of music you enjoy. You do a great job of capturing the energy.

Nice work Rene! Way to capture the raw moment.

Thanks all!
I shoot everything at Atak basically... However, I have a broad taste in music (dance, hardcore, classical, jazz, gothic, Indie, you name it), and can enjoy most things, as long as there is passion involved. If there is no emotion on stage, there is not much to capture...

BDM is one of my favorite bands, and these are fantastic shots of them.

Thanks!
In fact I never even heard of them untill they came to Atak...
(I like and know lots of differnt music, but I'm terrible with names from bands that weren't around in the '90ies)

Nice shots, as always.

I think they strip their clothes because it was awfully hot that night.

I don't care if they're playing a gig on the sun, that singer really needs to consider wearing a shirt for the whole show...
