Hi all - new to this forum and photography. I bought a Rebel XT a month ago and just ordered the 100mm / f2.8 macro lens. It should arrive today! Can't wait. Thanks for all the posts on macro photography. I have been learning a lot just reading through them and hope to have photos to share 1/2 as good as the ones I've seen here. What should I do first? I also am getting the 430EX flash and the 50mm / f1.4 lens.

you might want to get the off shoe adaptor and a flash bracket plus a diffuser for the flash.

Great idea, racketman:D
Looks as though you are getting off to a great start in macro. You will really like that 100mm f/2.8 macro. The EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM is also another great lens to add later on if you can. I like it because I can not only shoot macro but scenics as well. Sort of an all round on demand type lens.:D

Will I find that I almost always use flash, even if just fill flash, for macro work? Would you think that the diffuser and bracket are "must haves" for good pictures, or will I be OK without them to start?
