This little girl was supposed to be sitting w/ her dad for a picture, but she had her own ideas...Children are very unpredictable, most of the time it's all about being a passive observer and having the camera ready. Comments welcome. How's my conversion and does it look better w/ the warmth? Sometimes my B&W's look a little blue to me.

You keep outdoing yourself. This is Wonderful!!! So cheeky ;) For me, the sepia shows more detail. I just love that little foot.

More detail, how so? They're pretty much the same except one has a low opacity color fill layer in brown, maybe that effects the detail somehow??

They both have the same detail.

I love it.

What a nice shot. I really like #2.

Save her a copy to give to her on her wedding day :)

You've caught one of those precious moments. Very nice work. I don't see much difference between the two.

both of them reminds me about one of those cards. "precious moments" i think thats what theyre called. this can be a hallmark card or somethin.

Well captured! You couldn't have staged a shot like that. I agree with kenny that it's reminiscent of a Hallmark card. Just wonderful!
I favour the slightly warmer tone of the first.

As a mommy of a little one myself, I can't stop thinking, "where is this baby's diaper?" I just don't trust my baby that long without one, especially on the furniture. But this "natural" look is so much nicer than the bulky onesie look we usually see. I think that is one of the reasons this shot is so fine. This isn't even my baby and I want to frame it and hang it on my wall.

As a mommy of a little one myself, I can't stop thinking, "where is this baby's diaper?"

Yes, she had an episode where she decided to take the diaper OFF and they just let her go. I remember thinking, "am I ever going to get a decent picture of this child??" Like I said, I had to become a passive observer and have the camera ready. I got lucky, and even though it wasn't the expected shot, it turned out to be a treasure.

Thanks for the compliments:D

InskiP, I'm a big fan of your photos. I learn a ton from you. Her little bootie is so cute, I will try the same with my pillsbury dough girl. But, I may keep her in the yard. LOL

Somehow, the best moments are captured when you least expect it. This is one of them - nice job!

You do amazing photos!! I tried this same pose with my daughter (but she had her diaper on) but it doesn't come close to yours. Did you use a 50mm f/1.8 lens? I enjoy viewing your work..........and I hope to capture those images as you do one day. What lighting did you use - natural light? I tried natural light in addition to my 430 speedlite and nothing near as stunning as yours. GREAT WORK!!

Thanks Traci. I probably used the 50mm 1.8, I usually do indoors because of the limited space. I used natural light, but will sometimes use my 580EX for fill at a reduced output, but honestly can't remember if I used it in this picture?? This was one of those fleeting moments that was totally unplanned and I got lucky, so I don't remember a whole lot about it.
