Hi, Im new to digital work and was wondering if many of you use RAW format when taking pictures. I set my G3 to superfine all the time with ISO 50 or 100 for most shots.
Wonderfull site by the way, this is the first time I have posted anything but you make this a great site with all your advice. I have been reading it for weeks now.

I rarely use it myself as I have been happy with the results in large superfine mode. Raw gives you more options for playing around with pictures afterwards, if you so desire, without losing any quality as you do with a jpeg after saving it several times, etc.
I guess it's down to personal preference, and maybe the size of your cf cards. If I had a 1gb card I might experiment with raw more often, depending on the importance of the shot!

I mostly shot in the normal large super fine resolution setting producing a jpeg image and am mostly happy with results I get. The disadvantage with raw mode (in my opinion) is the length of time the camera and then the software back at your PC, takes to process the information. I mostly like to see the results of my shots quickly so that I can judge the results and make quick adjustments to the settings before shooting again. That said, on some pre-planned shots, where time is not an issue and where you want to be certain to get a good shot, I use raw mode to capture an image so that when I get back to editing my pictures in Photoshop, I have full control over settings (such as white balance, sharpness and contrast etc) to make lots of post shot adjustments to achieve the exact result I was after.
