Hey all,
I am just wondering when the 56K warning should be added to a thread title? How many images would you suggest being a cut-off point?
Kind of a silly question, but I don't really know the answer to it:oops: .
Thanks,
Travis

If you follow the posting rules for the forum, it really shouldn't be much of an issue. Only 2 photos per post and a max of 8 photos per thread load fairly quickly on dial-up in most cases. It is when you start posting multiple photos in a single post that it really starts to slow things down. I have a dial-up connection open just playing and even the huge threads like the funniest picture are loading ok. Not fast, but I could read the thread without getting bored to tears waiting for it to load.

actually the way i do it is in KB total. as in 5 pics might total just under 500KB to me i feel that is a good cut off point.of course this is subjective ,and others will have different opinions.

Since these 2 figures are key in the defined limits let me clarify the limits here:
1. Attach: When attaching photos You are uploading them to the POTN server. Se here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=160897) for how this works. When You use this method You are allowed 2 attachments per thread. If You want to share more You then need to continue with method 2 or 3. Every time 2 photos are attached to a post about 1 MB space is used on the POTN server (even though the photos are under 200 KB in total) please have this in mind before attaching a 3rd, 4th, 10th or 20th photo using this method. More space cost money. And who pays the bill? Pekka does.
2. Imbed: When imbedding photos the photos are stored on an external server. This can be Your own, it can be PBase, Fotopic or any of the multitude of available hosting services. You can see more here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=163130) about how to do this. Using this method You are allowed 8 imbedded photos per thread. If You want to share more You then need to continue with method 3.
3. Link: When You have reached the limit when using method 1 and 2 You need to post a text link. Like this http://photo.klein-jensen.dk/photohtml.php?n=060604_carnival_day3_8.jpg . With this method You can post as many links as You like. But do You really want to do that? Think about it. Very few want to click on a large number of links. Instead link to a gallery like this (http://photo.klein-jensen.dk/) where users can browse through the photos. If there are many photos imbedded or linked people tend to not commenting on them.
