Okay, the final split off...
Dutch band 'The Ex' (http://www.theex.nl/), going strong since 1979...
They had this guitar with them from the start I suppose:

Since when is Gaffer not enough to hold things together?

You wonder how the guitar got that way?

cool...i dig the Ex...only saw 'em once, opening for Sonic Youth in Chicago (though i did see kindred spirits Dog Faced Hermans a couple of times). #5 and #6 are great (how do you get the full band shots? working for a paper, mag, or club?), and i do dig the ancient and weathered guitar headstock/c-clamp pic too.

Left handed 5-string ... must be rare to start, eh? :-) See, you get more images per group when you split 'em!

Good stuff Rene....#2 looks like one of my standards....I dig that shot!
That is one old setup the guy is playing....his cappo looks to be 100 years old!

Narlus: #5 is taken from the balcony, and yes. I work for the club (http://myspace.com/liveinatak) (As a volunteer; this typew of photography is mostly hobby ;)). Dog Faced Hermans is cool as well. Never got the chance to photograph them...
Dwight: Yup, your tip worked...
Taygull: Not offended by the guitar abuse? ;)

No not at all....it is strange....some guitars are just suppose to be beat all to hell. I'd really like to have an old Fender Tele.......we call'm relics.
On the flip side I've got a Huss and Dalton Acoustic that is just "mint", not a nick or scratch on it......now that is mostly due to the fact that it sits in the case since I've gotten back into photography. That guitar I really try to keep in nice shape.

? What's that mean Split em?

pdawg1, by 'splitting' he means to create two threads, one for each band, instead of putting opener and headliner in the same thread.

There are POTN limits on numbers of images per thread: two if attached (uploaded to POTN), eight if embedded (image dragged in from your own website) and unlimited links (where you have to click to see an image.) If you combine multiple acts from the same concert in a single thread you can't post all your good ones ... Rene was posting linkable thumbnails but they still count! So, by splitting his posting into several threads he was able to post more images per band. While it is designed to lessen the impact on dialup users, it also makes it easier to review and comment on images/bands/venues as well as to do effective searches ... also, you will likely give better details in titles when you don't mix n' match.

There you go Dwight...always thinking! Thanks, be prepared! I am going to be out shooting entertainment (local Music Festival) this weekend. Hope to try this strategy out...

Oh, yes, if you shoot five bands from a festival definitely use a separate thread for each band and put both band and festival name in each title ... that is so much friendlier for the viewers.

I'm working on a night with four bands right now. I'll make a few different threads of it.
It's too hot to work in the Netherlands right now:

René, i saw The Ex last night...what a great, fun rock show. damn does Terrie move around like a caged beast. knowing that, i'm very impressed you got such a sharp headstock photo.
i'll have photos up in a couple of days, but i don't think they will match yrs.

Hey, cool! I see they had a DJ with them (according to their site)? How was that?
Curious about the photos!

yeah, DJ Rupture spun before their set. i'd never seen a DJ live before, and it was pretty cool. it took him a while to get going as he had some electrical problem (his set time started after the published start time for The Ex) to sort out, but got it going good.

I like the details shots. Giving the instruments some photo opt time is KOOL! I like # 7 to. Kool color in the background. You have some great movement in some. Nice!

Both of these bands show a lot of action through your pictures...there's a lot of fun and interaction among the players...that's always a good sign...

I like how it illustrates how small the depth of field is.
