Hiya All,
Well I'm stumped yet again for an ID for this little fly, my guess is some sorta Dung Fly ???

Excellent shots - interesting fly- suspect it's a dolichopid fly (long legged)- looks similar to Sciapus platypterus (lives in hedgerows)- All according to my British insects book :)

Many thanks for your comments, I'm goina get myself that British Insect book, time I had a go at some ID, Hell I can only make a Pratt of myself ( Ami says whats new )

It's Complete British insects pub by Collins, author Michael Chinery ISBN 0-00-717966-9
It's not brilliant but about the best one that's readily available.
