Hi Folks,
This is just a quick hello. I joined this group about a week ago and I am already intimidated by the excellent work shown here by lots of talented people. I am a Painter who likes to take pictures. I don’t refer to myself as a Photographer.
I just bought a new 70-300 zoom (El Cheapo) lens for my Digital Rebel. Even with this set up it is like having a Mercedes with no driver’s license.
I have recently become interested in and amazed at the wildlife in my backyard. That was the reason I bought the zoom lens. I am hoping to do a series of small paintings of the critters.
I am posting a photo of some Chickadees that I shot with the Rebel and new lens. Your comments and crits will be most welcomed.

P.S….Please feel free to browse through my work.

Hi Greg and welcome to the forum and like you said in your post once you get snapping away you are tempted to buy, buy and buy and be out of pocket, it's the canon fever. Most if not all now have holes in the pocket. I have holes in all my pockets.

A great start with the image of the Chickadees and getting both in the image is a bonus, look forward to more soon.

Another Welcome to the Forum. This is a great start. A feeder is a good place to practice your techniques. You might place a branch near the feeder to get away from showing the actually feeder and get the visual attention on the birds. There is a hot spot in the lower right hand corner that distracts from the image. Keep on shooting and sharing.

Dennis and Tony,
Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement. Please excuse my delay in responding, I have been on a road trip for the last five days.
Thanks again,

Regards,
Greg.
