View Full Version : Hoya HMC or Hoya Standard CPL Filter ?

has anyone tried with this two kind of Polarizer ?? ..is there any big difference with the end result ?? .. .. I have use HMC, but i've lost it :( .. now I want to buy the remplacement, I dont know if the Hoya PL Cir Standard has the same effect with HMC one .... price is considerably different ...

Isn't HMC the Hoya Multi-Coated one? I figure it is more costly because of the extra coatings. I don't think you need a circular polarizer for a G3.

yes ..HMC is Hoya Multi Coated (i believe it thas 6 coated) ... well, I know that G3 can work with Linear Polarizer as well, but here I just want to know the different result from HMC CPL(which is 6 coated) and standard CPL (2 coated ?, I think) ....

I don't know. I've owned both. I really cannot tell the difference. Try the cheaper one, if it is making your pictures noticeably lacking in contrast, sell it on eBay and buy yourself the HMC. I figure on consumer grade lenses, such as the one on the G3, you'd probably not be able to make out that much of a difference.
