I recently purchased a Canon 20D with a EFS 17-85 Lens. I have been playng with the settings trying to get really vivid photos. I also have a Canon S50 camera I use a lot and it has a Vivid setting which really enhances the colors and produces some great photos. I can not reproduce this with the Canon 20D. I have tried color temp. settings, changing the parameters and combinations of both. Any recommendations?

Personally I don't care much for the P&S overprocessed pics, but "different strokes...". ;)
You're going to have to learn to post process sometime, & with the 20D, you might start now with some of the -= FAQ & IMPORTANT LINKS =- (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=18) "Sticky"s.
Or you could take the easy route, shoot Jpegs & crank up the settings in your "Parameters" Menu, then at a later date, when you need a 20X30 print & can't get a good one , we can all have a good cry over a beer & discuss how you were lazy & screwed up? :D
Really, the more that you take control now, the more control you will have later. We'll be glad to help out. http://photo.klein-jensen.dk/smilies/0465.gif

Don't rely on parameters with the 20D as you might with a point and shoot. Use post processing techniques to make the mose of your images. DSLR photography is all about being able to control your image to achieve optimal quality, and that really can't be achieved with in camera settings.
