Anyone seen the new *itz Camera commercial? "Are you ready to make the move to a professional digital camera? Come to *itz the only place a "real" professional needs to shop! When you are ready, we're there for you."
Look out B&H...

I mean really...why waste time sorting through all of those 1-series bodies, overpriced lenses, strobe lighting and all that, when you could get an XT, two promaster lenses and a promaster flash, and walk out having spent less than $1k! A true professional would be able to make that stuff work.

Oh yes. Quantary Pro single coated plexiglass, for sure. It'll take the haze right out!

And for those less technically inclined, lets not forget the knowledgeable sales staff.

Every time I come out of Jessops fuming/laughing at the service/knowledge levels, I remember you've got Wolf & Ritz across the Big Pond.
Makes me feel a whole lot better.

I'm about 3 months into this hobby and just this morning trashed 3 of the $9.99 filters I bought at Ritz. I guess I could save and use for target shooting or something
I know better now, thanks to you guys :o

They are excellent for improving your skill level in skeet. Much smaller than the standard clay bird and they tend to fly a bit faster as well. Happy shooting!

I haven't found another camera store here, so I goto Wolf once in awhile to look around, hoping to see something worthwhile. They stopped carrying Digital PhotoPro, though, so now there's absolutely nothing there for me. Sigh...

I've been to 2 other stores in the Denver metro area. Mikes Camera (http://www.mikescamera.com) on Colorado Blvd and another one near the Park Meadows Mall. Then there's Englewood Camera (http://www.englewoodcamera.com) on S. Broadway. They still have similar prices to Wolf , but I've found them to be more knowledgable (at least the ones i've spoken with).

I will occasionally stop in a Ritz/Kit's/Wolf store when I'm wandering through a mall waiting for my wife. Mostly the people that work there are people off the street who have been trained to run the cash register, and know nothing about photography. Occasionally, however, you will run into a clerk who really is interested in photography, and actually knows what they're talking about. I sense that the latter group must be very conflicted. On one hand, they know what works best, i.e. what products are likely to be best for the customers' particular needs. On the other hand, they aren't always at liberty to provide those solutions. I'm sure they're under considerable pressure to sell in-house brands and items that have the greatest profit margin for the store. I try to take that into account when I'm in one of their stores.

There is another thread circulating where one of our members seems to be exhorting the virtues of sales staff that is mindless, deceitful and inept. I have no problem with a salesperson trying to push the house brand...that is their job. What I have a problem with is people that lie to customers either intentionally or as a result of being misinformed.
I know it is unrealistic to expect every photo salesperson to be as enthusiastic or informed about their job as most of their customers....but if you don't know the answer....just say so, instead of making up some BS nonsense. This goes right back to their new ad....if they are trying to be the one-stop camera store for professionals, then they certainly need to have a professional staff. And no....that is not too much to ask of a retailer.

Thanks! I didn't know about those! Too bad about the high prices, though... :-(

Actually, I think the thread was pointing out how mindless and sad someone must be to make fun of the intelligence level of people who work at Ritz.
Yep... pretty sure that was it...

Don't do it! Those little memory cards are a LOT more expensive than film! I've only been able to afford 25 so far! Though, if you buy the big ones, you can get a lot more than 36 pictures on one...
Speaking of which, has anyone found a place that will develop the film in those cards? They're piling up in my drawer...

I tried to get the film out of the little card with some plyers but didnt find any film inside. Do you think I got a bad memory film card? :D

OMG!! I was just laughing my ass off through the Wolf Camera website and saw they charge $996 for a 2 year extended warranty on a 5D. Last time I checked the 3 Year Mack warranty was $129 @ B&H. What a scam.

Well, you can laugh all you want.
The truth of the matter is that some ad agency figured that would be the best approach to take. See, David Ritz is laughin' right along with you. Only he's headed towards the bank...
