I can't get my Photoshop 6.0 to save a cropped TIF image as a JPEG, the only choices it gives are TIF, RAW, or Photoshop formats.
I have two crops I want to post, but I can't figure this out, and my web software won't recognize the TIF.
Thanks,
Steve

You might want to try saving it as a Photoshop document first, and then saving the .PSD as JPEG. I don't know why that would be necessary unless you haven't flattened the document before trying to save it. You can't save layers in any format other than Photoshop.

I changed it to PSD. but I still don't have the option to save as JPEG. I don't think I messed with layers. I took two identical pictures using my 50mm f1.8 canon lens and my 18-55 EFs lens, and cropped them down.
There was a lot of difference in sharpness, and I wanted to post it.
I have to go to work now, so if anyone posts a solution to my problem, I'll upload it in the morning.
Thanks,
Steve

It's pretty easy to create new layers without realizing you've done it. Just look in the 'Layers' pallette and see if you show more than one layer. If you do, you'll have to flatten the image (merge everything into the background layer) before saving it as a JPEG.

If you're interested, you can email me the entire file and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

If my original TIF file is in 48-bit format (three channels of 16 bits each), then my image editor does not let me export it as JPEG. However, if I convert my original TIF file into 24-bit format (three channels of 8 bits each), then my image editor allows me to export it as JPEG or anything else.

It was the 16 bit problem. Thanks a lot for all of your help. This is such a cool forum. I started a new thread up above with the link I needed the pictures for.
