Residents of New York: What are you favorite parts of the city to photograph (and the surrounding areas, but mostly Manhattan and the 5 boroughs)
What type of place do you like to travel to to photograph? Beach? Canyon? Wilderness? etc.
What's your favorite travel destination (a specific place)?

you have everything but mountains in NYC to photograph. Flowers in any botanical garden, animals at the Bronx or Central Park Zoo, even birds of prey in manhattan towers!

lol on the birds of prey
I wasn't thinking along the lines of tourist attractions, or family outings such as the zoo
I was thinking more like specific sections of the city like the village and SoHo, Uptown, Downtown, Ground Zero, wherever.
I like the village, but have yet to really take some pictures (waitin for my 17-40L)

union sqaure always makes for a good place for street candids and you'll find photog's selling their prints there, farmers market and it's the meeting ground for large group activities.
I like to shoot at tompkins square park and it's surroundings, it's located between avenue b and a between 10th and 7th. There are always events being held, live bands and such.
I like going to the botanical gardens year round because It's a 10/15 mins walking distance for me. it just blows my mind how they won't let you sell your shots :P
it's also nice to walk down along the west side highway at night - have some friends with you :) (begin around 125th)
washington square park is fun to shoot too but be weary of who you shoot as there are drug dealers there who don't like their picture taken.
boardwalks of coney island is fun too. i went to city island (bronx) at night and some of it's buildings on main st are pretty interesting. i have to go back to shoot during the day, it's absolutely pitch black as it's surrounded by water and there's nothing to see. there's also a small cemetary there, will have to go back to shoot at night/dawn. anyone want to come? :D
where the whitestone bridge begins, on the bronx side. there's a park there that makes for very interesting shots during sunrise and sunset due to it's lanscape. it also has a view of the skyline.
loads of things to shoot - so big, so big.
p.s. i know it's not NY, but if you take the path over to jersey city it has some nice view of downtown manhattan. you can also walk over the brooklyn bridge to brooklyn for a skyline of downtown nyc. the place also has old buildings and industrial buildings as well.
so many different neighborhoods with different cultures. this list can go on and on and on and...

This is in NYC, a bronze commissioned by and made for another city, and sitting in a warehouse in NYC when 9/11 tragedy occurred. The city which originally commissioned the work long before 9/11 gave it to NYC to commemorate the efforts of the NYPD...

It was eerily like a photo that had been published in the newspapers in the aftermath!

I had a great time shooting along the lower west side of manhattan downtown - I think it is battery park - nice view of the statue of liberty, lots of flowers, interesting people, and lots of good restaurants in the area too.

Yes and there is always ground zero down there, these days they have started construction so there might be some very interesting shots.
