Hi all. Looking into finally getting a super-wide zoom. I want it for close-range car shots at car shows and landscape shots. Maybe a little portraiture too. Right now I'm stuck between the Sigma 12-24, Sigma 15-30 and the Canon 10-22.
My first issue is wether or not the Canon EF-S lens will work on a 10D. I've heard it go both ways.
Second question is to narrow it down between the two Sigma's. The 15-30 is a little bit faster with a minimum aperture of f/4 as opposed to the f/4.5 of the 12-24. How much do you miss the extra 3mm? I don't forsee myself needing the extra aperture since I'll be shooting mostly outdoors in good sun, but you never know. Also how do these two lenses compare optically?

The 10D has an EF mount - you'd need to essentially take a hacksaw to the 10-22 EF-S. I quite like the 15-30, which I got just[ before the 12-24 came out, but if I were doing it over now, I'd get the 12-24 as it's a bit smaller.

Why not the excellent Sigma 10-20EX? Perfect for your 10D.

Not sure why I disregarded that lense. Now that you bring it up I will do some more research on it.

I'll stick my vote in for the 10-20 too, it's also very sharp from what i can tell from my pics so far :)

Jojo I decided to check out your website and low and behold you had the comparo I was looking for, the Canon and Sigma 10-20. Seems like the Sigma fairs pretty well against the Canon. I checked out your gallery and noticed the wide angle shots were all extremely sharp and had great color. Which lense did you use there, the Canon or Sigma? (I noticed the focal length of 10mm in most of the EXIF's)

Colin, which shots on your site were taken with that lense?

I'd vote for the Tokina 12-24mm f/4. Its build and sharpness are L-class
