Hi EE-friends,
As I said in an other post, I am evaluating the different systems for showing images online.
At the moment EE is rank one ;)
And I guess, this is the system.
Another user in my "evaluation group" gave me this post:
" ... I've checked out 4images, Gallery, Coppermine, Photo Post, and other
major programs, and as of yet, have found NONE of them seem to support
having a photo in more than one category or gallery.
This blows my mind. I'd think that with php and mySQL, such a data
structuring would be incredibly simple, if not downright expected.
Don't the creators of these software packages have photos that'd
absolutely fit into more than one category? A pic, for instance,
smartly included under "Nature" and "California" and "Flowers" and so
on? ..."
Regarding his post, what about EE?
Thanks in advance.

ee allows multiple categories. You do this in Photo Editor by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the categories you want and then saving the info.
To use the same photo in different exhibitions, use the copy function in copy/move/delete

Alan,
Thanks for that. It seems, that I have to look around for a good webserver, what does support all requirements for EE.

i use IPOWERWEB.com for my hosting... they have decent rates, and have everything needed, except imagemagick, they do have GD installed, and are working on getting image magick up at my request.

I think so too, that is why I coded it in EE version 1.0. EE's MySQL database has been totally relative (level 5 normalized) since day one.

Wow! This is amazing to me (and hi, c_by_sinus, from iMatchUserForum :D).
I, too, have been dying for a common-sense program in which my photo from Costa Rica can be seen under ANIMALS, WATER, LATIN AMERICA and so on. This is so much more useful than a rigidly hierarchical format.
At first, I was disappointed that EE does not support InvisionBoard (message forum) integration, but I'm guessing that this would counteract the powerful relational database aspects of EE.
Anyway, it's now 2:36am, and I'm supposed to be out dancing with friends tomorrow morning, so I think I'll quit blathering, try to get some sleep, and then install this program tomorrow.
P.S. -- Just a quick nitpick: When I see "Send Reply" below, it suggests to me that I'm E-MAILING, not posting a note -- which can be confusing on a forum! I'd humbly recommend changing it to "Post reply."
