I was out on Kings Road in london and decided that it was a good enough spot to try some panning, i had two shots that i liked somewhat.
this was shot on my rebel xt with a sigma 18-200, at 1/20. My mistake was not to turn down my ISO, i was shooting at my usual 200 which was giving me a overexposed shot, not terrible though.
Just looking for some thoughts!
cheers

The second one is the better of the two. It looks right on to me.

first one is blurry as I'm sure you know. U're a bit too fast with the second one so you get only the first chuck of the car. Unless that's what you want. Follow through ok. Just like Tennis and golf.

It certainly does! I like the Aston - with the nose poking into shot.

indeed. thats the upscale road of London. Everytime I go I see a few ferraris(always with the top down, losers) and a lambo or 2. And the smattering of masseratis, astons and m series.
thanks for all the comments guys I shall have to keep trying. but im now in India so the cars arent so "great" :)

I'm actually reall impressed that you can pan this well with the 18-200 - it's not the fastest focussing lens, which I guess, in the long run, will actually mean that your technique is strenthened.

I would try a bit more focal length and a faster shutter, around 1/60ish. I was impressed with my second attempt at panning due to this. My first atempt was at 50mm (35mm SLR) and a 1/15 shutter and everything was blurry. I used 200ish and 1/50 with my DSLR and it worked out much better. Give it a shot, if it doesn't work for you, You'll find something that does if you just keep trying.
Also slow moving objects are more difficult, try fast moving object with a faster shutter speed......

The one on the Lambo and the Aston are the best. Here, I played in PS a bit.

From the shape of the radiator the Bently is a rolls royce.
But nice shots anyway.
