Hi,
I love my S400 and I've been taking a ton of pictures with it.

I would like to improve on taking night shots. For the most part many of my pictures are blurry. I was wondering what kind of settings I should use (like ISO, etc) to better take night pictures? Are there any special techniques that I can use with the S400 to do so?

I've also had similar problems when taking pictures with articial lighting (indoors). Your help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have the Ixus II, i think it's a model down from yours. I've been experimenting with night photos and had some great results!

First you need a tripod. I found a second hand tripod that folds right down, and came with a carry bag. It only costed me NZ$25 (about US$12).

Without a tripod your pictures will always be blurry.

Here are some good camera settings to use with a tripod:

Flash: OFF
ISO: Auto
WB: Auto
Shutter Speed: 1 sec
Self Timer: 10 sec (use the self timer, so the tripod will be steady when taking the picture)

It's best to have the ISO on auto or else the picture can be too "noisy".

Shutter Speed is great on 1 second, but you can experiment with longer if you want to.

Use the highest resolution and quality settings your camera has.

Cheers.
