Hi people,

Is the Canon ST-E2 compatible with the PocketWizard receivers, does anyone know?

No, the ST-E2 uses IR to trigger the remote flashguns. The PWs use radio frequencies. Therefore they are not compatible.

The ST-E2 provides E-TTL(II) functionality but its use can be limited by distance, environment and 'line of sight' considerations.

Details of the ST-E2: http://photonotes.org/cgi-bin/flash-specs.pl?flashType=canonste2

PWs will work over much greater distances and will provide a more reliable triggering method. Of course, you will be working with your flashguns in Manual mode. Not a problem if you are working in a controlled environment (e.g. a studio) where you have time to set the guns up correctly.

Details of the basic PW Plus units: http://www.pocketwizard.com/HTML/plus.asp - further information on the other PW units is available on www.pocketwizard.com

If you carry out a simple search for 'ST-E2' and 'Pocket Wizards' in this forum, you will find numerous relevant threads.

Many thanks for the info Gavin.

I have a pair of Gemini Esprit lights with built-in wireless radios on them, and have been using the ST-E2 transmitter to trigger them. However, I also have a Sekonic L358 lightmeter with a wireless unit, and wanted all of them to work together. It looks like I'm going to have to invest in a pair of PW Transmitter/Receiver units.

Hum ho :(
