Hai,

I have a strange orange dot on my LCD screen ( in the middle). this dot was not there one moment and appered the next moment and would not go . I checked my camera lens for any dust , nothing et all.

It remains fixed in the same position and appears very small in my pictures ( as a white dot) . one more thing that I noticed was that this dot brightens a little when I press the release button half way . this is annoying !

this has all the signs of a Hot pixel . can anyone confirm this to me . Its been a year since i bought this camera ( G2) ..

thanks for any help !

I cannot say for sure it is a hot pixel but I would lean toward that. I owned an Olympus 2100uz about two years ago and had that exact same problem. My dot was green and showed up on every photo I took. If the dot was in a green area of the photo you could not notice it but other than that it was always there. Eventually I got tired of taking all my photos into PS and fixing the dot, so I decided to mail the camera back to Olympus. They basically, (from what I understand) just turned the dead pixel off and turned another one on. My warranty covered it. But of course it did not last forever. actually it only lasted about four months and then it happened again. but this time my warranty was out. and wouldn't you know it they told me the minimum, yes! that is what I typed. the minimum cost to repair it would be $315.00. Well you know what I told them to do with their Olympus equipment. I got rid of the camera and then bought a G2. I know this does not really answer your question, but, I want you to know your not the only one with this kind of luck, (bad).
