We spent the weekend in Maine and saw this Broad-winged hawk first sitting on a street sign then moved off to a branch just about 20 feet from us.

Thanks for looking and commenting Tony, Sindri, Scott and Trevor. I was amazed at how close we were able to get to it. I've got to get to the picture of it on the road sign where I first saw it. Hopefully tomorrow.

Beautiful captures, Hali. I hadn't heard of this hawk before. Are these crops or full frame?

Thanks for looking Reigh and Joe. The pictures are crops, I wish I could have gotten close enough for full frame.

...The pictures are crops, I wish I could have gotten close enough for full frame.I was wondering if the original would allow for a useable horizontal crop, to give the subject a little more space.

Thanks Samisbuff, I'll try to do that, I love the raptors. Joe...here's the shot done more horizontally, it's almost full frame:

Very nicely done and I like the portraits but I do prefer the crop ...especially for that pose.

Thanks for the critique and the comments. You were definitely right Joe, the horizontal crop is much better.
