Just received an early birthday pressie from my Husband - a 580EX :D:D:D

One slight problem - aint got a clue how to use it. The last hot shoe flash I owned was on my 35mm SLR - you just put the flash on the shoe and shoot that was all there was to it!

I've just read the instruction manual and it might as well have been in a foreign language!

Does anyone have any suggestions about where I should start with this flash or for any reading material which may help me understand it.

Especially check out the Flash photography 101 stuff. It takes some practice to get it right but the results are worth it. Stay patient and ask questions when you don't understand something.

That flash is brilliant. It's got easy to handle controls on the screen. Yes, the manual is ridiculous. I think it's thicker than my 20D one. :)

Congrats on the flash, you will love it. I got one for xmas and still dont know how to use it fully, but the results I have got from it this far are great!

I think I will get it. Never to late to learn.
