To those who have usernames that are not their names. ---- Sign your posts. IF you are paranoid that someone will hunt you down and kill you if you use your whole name, just use your first name. Use SOME NAME. It is irritating to post a reply to a group of letters that is not a name, also it impedes any hope of community spirit. I feel like an idiot everytime I post a reply to someone only known as "maddog, hosehead7," or something like that. If your words are worth reading, they should be worth signing your name to.
Paul Jaruszewski
Dissenting opinions welcome, and at least you can address your counter gripe to "Paul."

I love it when people overcome their fear of rejection and say what they feel.:)
If you are like me, you agonized over posting this, almost deleted it at least once, and posted it anyway! The next day you were aprehensive about checking back to see what your honesty bought you in the way of flames. You may not be like this, but I am and appreciate your honesty.
By the way, thanks for letting me address you as "Paul". I would need to write "Jaruszewski" 100 times before I stopped messing it up.:D

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I dig your first line about overcoming their fear of rejection, and I as usual, have a comment.... I have been rejected so many times by people more important to me than strangers on the internet, that I am not too worried about it.
Don't get me wrong, the opinion of others is important to me. I like people and am quite interested in being a good "web citizen" and my "gripe" is only an expression of my desire to make closer contact to the people I chat with on this board, and was not meant as a criticism of any particular person here.
Chris, in spite of the bravado of my first paragraph, I appreciate your insight. I actually did ponder not posting the not that started this thread. In fact you should see some of the posts I didn't post in the past few months.
Pax,
Paul

Paul,
I agree with you 100%! I have never understood why people can't sign their posts using their first name. It seems like common courtesy to me, but then again, I might be getting too old... :)

Obviously you guys haven't spent any time on irc. there we pretty much only use "handles" Our local group has get togethers, and I even met my wife on there, so it is possible to have a "sense of community" with nicknames. Of course most of the people on there are 15-30 and many are computer geeks. With that said I think you do have a point.

I prefer a certain amount of anonymity.
P.S. My given name is not really "Digital", or did you guess!!
