I just got a D-Rebel and a Epson Stylus Photo 900 printer. I used the Canon's File Viewer Utility to save a couple of shots as both 16bits and 8bits TIF on the PC. In Photoshop 7, when I set the view to proof using the Stylus' profile (with Epson'd Glossy or Premium Glossy photo paper), there are Out-Of-Gamut warnings in the shadowed skin tone areas. The prints showed halos and bandings in the same areas.
The shots are medium close ups of an infant, with good key light provided by a sunny lit window (10ft from subject) and fill light from another window on the opposite side (12ft distance). The contrast is soft with brighter tonal range.
The problems are located at the shadows in the neckline and the hairline at the forehead/temple area. I've stacked layers with different filters, colorized the shadows, tried various printer settings, yet the problem persisted. Can anyone suhhest any idea?
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Best Regards,
Alan
