Hi all,
I have now been using my new G3 for a couple of weeks, and what can I say, I love it, huge jump from my old Sony digital (DSC-S50). Can't say I like the battery meter though, my old Sony told me the time remaining in minutes, fairly accurate, better than three bars on a battery icon!

Anyway, my question, how on earth does the file numbering work. I would have thought that it just incremented by one umber at a time, but somehow my camera jumped from IMG_01xx to IMG_05xx. No one has taken 400 photos in between, so what gives?

Also how does the folder numbering work, every now and then it creates a new folder. I am not sure what triggers it, is it when I unload and reload a card? I always format my cards after downloading them to my X's-Drive, however on the weekend I goofed up and started shooting again on an almost full card without reformatting it.

Any ideas?

Did you put in a different CF card? This will only happen if you've put in a card that was used on another camera, and not reformatted when you put it in this camera. Its still reading what photo the card was last on.

The camera creates a new folder every 100 pictures. Putting in or taking out the card shouldn't affect it unless... (see the above answer)

Cool! Thankyou for that! Yes I did put another card in it from another camera, but only one shot, but that is probably all it takes!
