I am intersted in buying a scanner/printer and am looking for advice.
What are the minimum requirements for quality photo scanning and printing?
Is there a site that provides relevant information?

Thanks

it depends on what do you want the scanner for.

I have an HP scanjet 4400c and I am quite satisfied. It's A4 and of course you can also use it to make photocopies. USB connection.

I use to scan directly into Photoshop, that's the main use for me, images rather than text.

I did consider buying a multi-fuction machine (scanner-printer-fax) but decided against it because if anything goes wrong you are just stuck on all fronts ;)

Currently as printer I have an Epson Stylus Photo 810, but I have had several problems with it, like ink drying and clogging the nozzles in very hot weather (well, this year was really extreme). Ink is also very expensive (at least here in Spain) and you get one black and one 5-colour cartridge. Newer models have separate coloured ink cartidges.

Check out HP and Epson sites, and compare models both for scanners and printers that suit your needs. Prices can vary quite a bit according to functions offered.

Hope this may help :)
