Here are two shots of Pete Seeger at the Clearwater Festival on June 18, 2006. The first shows him walking through the festival grounds, and the second shows him performing with Holly Near.

Wow I wish he would come around this part of the country--I'd love to go hear him.

Wow, he is still carting two guitars around? Not bad for someone pushing 90. I've always liked Pete Seeger (even when I didn't agree with him.) :) I saw him with Arlo Guthrie in Berkeley many years ago.

Actually the instrument on his right is his legendary five-string banjo which bears the inscription "This machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender." On his left, he's carrying his twelve-string guitar.

Pete Seeger is amazing at 87. On stage at the festival he did a song demonstrating how men used to sing and chop wood using an axe. He swung his axe better than some men half his age could. And it was a pretty hot day.

Right after the first picture was taken, I introduced myself (I've had a website about him up for over ten years called the "Pete Seeger Appreciation Page") and he took the time to put down his instruments and gave a me a hug and said "thank you." Despite being so well known, he is not a celebrity type. He is a warm, genuine and super nice human being.

James, Fantastic PICS, thank you for the history retainer...

Is Peter Seeger related to a Richard Seeger of Conroe, TX?
You might possibly know....
