Hi
I have recently bought a EOS 300D.
I have quite a few lenses but it would seem that when I use a Sigma 28-200mm asperical lens ( I have tried 2) the camera displays ERR 99 and locks up.
Has anyone had the same experience?
Cheers

Hi
I had the same problem with a Sigma 70-300 which worked perfectly on the D30. If you contact sigma they will re-chip the lens for you or offer a part exchange.

I have the same problem with my Sigma 400 f5.6 -- at any f-stop other than wide open, I get err99 when I try to take a photo, and the camera locks up.
I've so far been afraid to contact Sigma to see about getting it rechipped - it's quite old and I'm betting they'll offer me a replacement (at retail price) -- which I don't want.
Oh well if they do, I'll just continue to use the lens wide open until I can afford a Canon 400 or 500.

Hi,
The rechipping is free from Sigma.
I have a 70-210 f2.8 which would only shoot at f2.8 or else gave an error 99, in about 3 weeks I had it back without any charge.
I would however act quick because most of the time the lens can stay in your country, however the older ones (like mine) have te be send to the far-east, and that will take anywhere from 3-6 weeks.
Greetings,
Frank
