Haha that's awesome. I'd be afraid to ride through NYC with that much gear.

It's probably not as absurd as it seems - the gear is in it's packaging so could probably handle a bit of a bump (oops - that's not allowed :) )

Still , I'd catch a bus/taxi/train/drive/walk whatever collecting that lot...

He lives in NYC. You can only afford the gear if you don't own a car!

10 bucks says any knowing Joe knocks that guy off the bike and steals the gear before he can make it home.

I was riding around with a cheque for £372 and my new hyperdrive in a plastic bag like that today, but I guess its not quite the same...

This is the usual in NYC. People buy really expensive stuff all the time and no one looks twice. You never know who can afford it and who is buying it for others. But he may be contemplating the "What will happen when my wife finds out?" thread we always have here. :)

Dante's personal messenger, perhaps? Was he headed east or west?

B&H is a great place to pickup photo gear either in person or online. Never had a problem with them.

I was walking through town with my 350D in a Tescos bag today trying to not look like I was taking pictures so to avoid getting mugged... but yep that is not the same :)

Looks good. One of the eastern USAs real "destinations"... like Wall Street and the White House down the road.

good for him.

he should wear a helmet, though. don't think that thin nylon fabric will do much if his head is accelerating towards the asphalt.

That skinny dude in the first pic with the 1980 "Top Gun" style reflecto sunglasses on, along with the "gunfighter ready to draw" pose almost makes me laugh so hard I wet myself. WAY too funny.

B & H I believe ships in generic boxes to prevent someone realizing a camera or equipment is in the box. Heck, think they would place store purchases in a brown bag so the customer does not get mugged.

All packages shipped from B&H are indeed "brown boxed", but they all also have that eye-catching tape that says "B&H Photo-Video" over and over again all the way 'round the package.

The only ones I'm not sure of are the super tele's. They're already in brown boxes. Do they put that brown box inside another??

... Heck, think they would place store purchases in a brown bag so the customer does not get mugged...

Re: brown bags & packages - for those that have never been, one of the best areas of the store is just as you leaving, there is a rectangle seating area with all the chairs facing each other. After picking up their purchases many, many people go into the chair area and rip into their packages and use their purchases right away. It's really quite a show seeing the smiles on people's faces as they get with their new stuff.

I'm always like to guess who bought what, and if they are a couple - who is the tech head and who could care less.

Another thought about the store - it can get really, really busy, especially if there is a convention going on at the Javits Center. Imagine the busiest store you've ever been in (eg. Black Friday Shopping - day after Thanksgiving in the states when all the sales take place to start the Christmas rush) it can be like that every day.

Anyway for 1st timers I would suggest get on their mailing list so you get their "Fabalous Catalogs".
