I'll be going in August with my girlfriend. I am looking to rent a lens or two for the trip. Any suggestions on what I'll want/need?
I am considering the 16-35 f2.8l. Will this be good for landscape shots or should I take something else? I don't have much experience in this field, so I ask you all.
Thanks,
Aren

I posed a similar question some time ago, in regards to my upcoming trip to Zion and Bryce. I was advised to get a 17-40 for landscape, which I did. But now I'm wondering if I should have gone with the 10-22.
Haven't gone yet, so I don't know how it'll work out.

The Canon 17-40L and a multicoated Circular Polarizer will do well _ click on My PBase photo gallery link in my Sig and navigate to the Yosemite Gallery for lots of photos using mine there recently.

In Yosemite I mostly use my 24-105 and my 10-22. There are lots of scenes you will want a wide wide lens and also you will want to get close to other views.

Kodak has a free 2 hour or so walk early in the AM with a professional photographer. Its described in the "newspaper" you'll get as you enter the park. Well worth getting up early (leaves at 6:30 AM more or less). The photographer takes you to several photo ops accentuating early morning lighting. I came away with numerous pictures that resemble postcards.
