I'm in the market for a flash for my G3. Of course, the recommended flash is the Canon Speedlite 420ex.

Anyway, I've talked to a local camera shop guy and he said that I should go with the Sigma EF-500 flash instead. He said it almost the same thing as the 420ex at half the price.

1) Does anyone use the Sigma flash on their Canon?

2) What is your opinion on the Sigma flash?

If price is an issue, why not buy an imported 420ex from B&H?

I'm hoping to get one for Christmas.

With the rebate right now, the US warranty 420ex is only $5 more than the non-US warranty 420ex (at B&H).
