Further to my previous thread regarding William napier..
He was a very lucky man. A bullet also hit his steel helmet, richocheted down his battle dress grazing his back.
He Joined the Black Watch in 1914, went to France 1915, and was hit and severely wounded at the end of 1916. He was a Machine Gunner.
Awarded the DCM in 1918, after the war worked on the railways but later entered the University of Glasgow to study for the Church Ministry.
Member of the Home Guard 1939- 1944.
He passed away in 1976
The picture isnt much but the story behind it is!
