On the Canon site the new firware update corrects - amoung other things - the following:
"C.Fn-04 AE lock operations
Corrects the AE lock operations when C.Fn-04 custom functions 1 or 3 is selected."
First off what was the problem with the AE lock function before? I have changed C.Fn-04 to 1 in order to enable back focus, and I haven't noticed any problems. Am I missing something?

There are at least six cameras we could be talking about here in the EOS forum,.. ?
Any chance you could enlighten as to which you are referring :)

It might have addressed the full details but where did it address DaveG's question?

Hmm, I wonder if it addresses a problem I reported to Canon a while back regarding the C.Fn-04 operation. See this thread for details:
