Hi Guys,

'Got a huge problem here.......
I am trying to update my 10D's firmware but it hangs.
I've formatted the CF card, copied the new firmware to it (Mac version) and switched on the camera. The camera started re-writing the firmware but now it hangs for almost 15 minutes on 69% completed. What should I do?

Thanks....

Armand

Did you check the file size? Download it again. Use a different CF card. Pray. Sacrifice a chicken.

Oh, and make sure you format the CF card with the camera, and not with your computer.

Yep, I formatted the CF card (Lexar 1Gb, 32x) inside the 10D....

I checked the filesize before installing and this was OK (1.7 Mb).
Meanwhile I have switched of the Camera by taking out the batteries (it did not respond to anything) .
Switched it on and the firmware install menu appeared again. I was glad that is was not totally dark....
Re-installing the new firmware gave exactly the same result. At 69% the whole procedure stops again....

I shall go looking for that chicken to sacrifice before taking any further actions...

I've found that "free range" chickens achieve better results. They're harder to catch, but...

Sorry for your troubles.

Have you tried the direct connect to computer method for updating the firmware?

Someone on the dpreview.com forums had a problem updating his 300D. It would hang like yours. It turned out to be an antivirus problem.
