So, i dropped my powershot sd600 in the sand while taking a picture , lens open. Now, when i try to close the lens, it says "lens error, restart camera". I've tried as best as possible to get the sand bits out externally, but i think a grain of sand is jamming it? it wasnt a very high fall, maybe like 1 ft into the sand...
What are my options?

Maybe a squirt of air from an air compressor. But don't use those canned air bottles- it's actually canned gas. But air may be able to get where you can't.

That's too bad, yeah maybe some compressed air, but be careful with it. Also, these lens extending mechanisms are pretty fragile, many have plastic parts, if it landed on the lens it may have jammed the lens inward. If you are at the point of nothing to lose you might try giving a gentle tug on the lens barrel to see if that frees things up. Good luck.
