I really like this photo. The towns out here are true prairie towns. Very small, dusty little places with a mix of farmers, menonites and first nations people. Most are many miles from the conveniences we are accustomed to.
The railroad takes me to these places. These children reminded me of a childhood long ago. I took it in sepia mode to try and capture the feeling of long ago.
The children were amazed with my rail riding truck, even putting coins on the rail so I could run over them.

What do you all think?

The sepia was perfect for this.

If the bikes didn't look so new you'd swear it was taken years ago. The sepia makes it. Super shot.

yes, I noticed the bikes as well. One other thing that stood out to me was the graffiti on the box car.

Very nice effect, it should be rotated so the boxcar and other vertical elements are not leaning though.

Nice photo but....what's this about a rail riding truck ??!! You just get on the rails and run with it?? What about on coming trains ? do you have a schedule that tells when trains will be there? what if you come head on with another rail truck...you just back up 'till you get to a crossing where you can just pop out of the way?? You cant just leave us with a light comment about your rail truck!! We (I) need to know!!!!!!!!!! (have I missed something about this along the way??)

Peachman, My thoughts exactly. I could not concentrate on the pic for trying to picture a rail riding truck....Come on you gotta post a pic of the truck!!!

I like this "Moment in Time" shot. The sepia may be a bit heavy, but works never the less. ;)

Curious minds want to know. Do you work for the RR? I've seen the rail riding trucks but not outside the RR company.

As to the picture - I thought I had stepped back to the 50s. Nice capture. I'm glad to see kids playing this way. It doesn't look like a financially wealthy place. I really like the image too.

excellent! you definitely have to do a double take to figure out the time period it was taken in.

It looks like from the bygone days and the sepia works well and it's a very interesting shot also, well done.

i like that aspect, the clothes they are wearing are kinda oldish fashion looking add the bikes which are new and its one of those contradicting moments, very cool
