I can't afford studio lights at this time, but am anticipating some jobs this holiday season to shoot couples and families at a couple of church parties.
Does anyone know what reasonable rates are for renting studio lighting equipment (a couple of flash units, stands, umbrellas, and power pack (if not monolights))? I'm stuck in Hawaii (not sure stuck is the right word when you are living in paradise) and only have one camera store that even offers lights for rent. Everything else in Hawaii is expensive, so I figure his prices might be high, but at first glance his prices didn't seem so bad. I figure I will be able to recoup the prices from sales, but am really trying to make this event affordable for those attending.
Last year I shot film with a single flash and was horrified at the shadows--surprised they even asked me back. I've learned a lot this past year, especially since going digital and hope to provide a much better product.
